Spicing Things Up a Bit

In the months since I've known that Ethiopia will be the country that births my daughter, I have been much more keenly aware of the diversity, or lack thereof, in my home, our neighborhood, our church, our school, where we shop, etc. During this years after Christmas sales I was on a mission to find decorations that would diversify our families Holidays a little. I only came home with 2 items, but I think that they are great finds and can't wait to put them out next year. I'm really praying that our own little fairy will be here in time to enjoy them with us!

This little cutie was one of Hallmark's Fairy series ornaments. My Ma always bought our family a certain series of ornaments when I was growing up. I almost passed this little treasure up b/c the box said that she was dated, and well, I don't even know if my baby is conceived yet. But, when I looked her over you can't even see the tiny date. I think she is absolutely darling and she is our little daughters first official Christmas ornament!

Ok, meet black Santa. Isn't he fun? I love his outfit. This was a Target 75% off Christmas find. Black Santa may get his own blog post next. He has caused me to do some pondering. But I'm not in the mood for pondering.

Just had to share my fun finds. Don't be like me and wait for a life changing event to open your eyes. Spice things up a bit!

I think that is a great idea to add some diversity to your Holiday's in honor of your new daughter :) Even better when you can get them for 75% off!

Well, you don't have to tell me twice :-) Although, I haven't searched for diverse items to have in our house. Guess I figure we already have it just in our family, but it definitely is something to think about. I can't wait to see your little girl when she arrives.

I think it's neat that the year 2009 is on the fairy ornament, Betsy, because that is the year you guys made the commitment to add this daughter to your family!
